23.03.12 – This year’s Bodensee-Trophy is a lead competition where athletes from Schwitzerland, Austria and Germany are competing against each other. It’s always located near the Bodensee which borders on those three countries. It was a first check-up on our endurance skills so far. For David it was nice to have one weekend off for more or less just climbing besides learning for the final exams at school. On Saturday the final and super-final of the HardMoves-Boulderleague took place in Wuppertal. The 10 best athletes from 29 different climbing gyms from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands met each other to qualify for the super-final which was located in the Schwimmoper Wuppertal. But first of all they had to climb 36 interesting and challenging problems ranging from technical slabs with tiny holds to powerful and athletic climbs. The 6 best teams with the most boulder problems topped were qualified for the super-final. The best thing at it was that they had to climb above the water like deep water soloing in the super-final. On 2^nd and 3^rd of February I went to Munich to compete at the first German Boulder Cup this year. Besides climbing I took a walk through some halls of the international sports fair (Ispo) with plenty of exhibitors of the outdoor business. Some weeks ago my trainer Urs Stöcker asked me if I could assist at the UIAA Iceclimbing Worldcup in Saas Fee. Fortunately that was the last weekend during a two weeks climbing break and I was able to go there. In Saas Fee the atmosphere was amazing and the weather was brilliant for iceclimbing. The last weekend we were invited to a training course of the German Youth National Team in Darmstadt near Frankfurt. Small village Siurana placed above the rocks

The trip to Spain was really great during the winter. Especially we enjoyed spending some time with friends from different places in Europe, even from Siberia, and our family. It was great to calm down for a while after a long period of stress and work in school and training. There was always a good mood. We had a lot of sleep and sunny weather. Nice rock and fresh air made it much more comfortable for us. We were talking a lot together and had fun while dinner, playing cards, cooking or in the bar. Weiterlesen →

Now we’re in Spain climbing on the rocks. It’s pretty nice weather (sunny, some clouds and almost perfect conditions for climbing, maybe sometimes a bit too hot). We’re sleeping a lot, eating well and having fun with friends playing games in the evening after dinner. We’re also enjoying the nature in the region of “El Priorat” which is famous for its oil and wine, especially from Siurana.
Currently we’re staying in Cornudella de Montsant in a comfortable apartment called “La Vileta” with really friendly owners which is just 10 minutes away by car from Siurana. Weiterlesen →

Last weekend we attended this year’s last training course at Nuremberg. We met our trainers Dicki Korb and Patrick Matros to do some flash training in bouldering with video analysis, power work-outs and to reflect the competition season of 2012.
