Last day in Cresciano before Spain

Ruben climbs Jungle book stand

Two days ago I had the possibilty to climb in Cresciano again because my trainer Urs organized a specific week of training out of school. Besides hard training in the gym we also went outside to go for some bouldering, to touch some rock after my season break and before I will fly to Spain tomorrow again.

In Zurich there was a horrible weather with a mix of rain and snow but as we went through the last tunnel in Ticino the weather was fantastic. It was sunny and windy around 10-15 degrees. After a warming up on some easy boulders I tried XP (Fb 7C) which felt quiet easy for the grade. I was lucky to send it on my second try.

After that I went straight to Jungle book stand (Fb 7C+, sit start 8A/8A+) which is just above XP. The boulder was looking amazing with long moves on slopy edges. The crux consists of a long move to a last big slopy edge where you have to hold on your tension. I tried the problem with two friendly Italian guys. Thanks for spotting and the pads! Just before they left I turned on the competiton mode and sent it. Superb problem and definitely one of my best in Cresciano! I also did Balu der Bär (Fb 7C) on my second try. It´s the start of Jungle Book with another top-out.

While I was trying these problems Jara Späte (one of the members of our training team in Zurich) was trying Street Parade (Fb 7A) which was one of the first boulder problems I had tried in Cresciano many years ago. It´s a beautiful traverse on a slopy edge. After getting used to the rock Jara sent the problem quite fast. Congrats for this!

Now I will rest for two days before I leave Zurich to climb in Siurana again. I really hope that I’m able to finish my project there!

Greez and A MUERTE!
