One highlight of this trip! Flashed „Tigre te dragon“ (fb 8A) in Rocher Greau – Pic by Lena Herrmann

Currently I’m in Fontainebleau for bouldering on one of the best rock in Europe. My good friend and strong climber Lena Herrmann is accompanying me and it makes a lot of fun projecting and sending the boulder problems with her. This should be just a very short post so there will be more news to come. We will stay here until the beginning of December, then we are off to Catalunya. Life is good. I’m happy and enjoying the stay here.

After the European Youth Boulder Cup in Laval Ruben and I spent one week in the Frankenjura for rock climbing. But to be honest, the weather was mainly crap. Only on Friday and Saturday the sun came out and the rock was more or less dry which made it possible to send hard routes.

After a seesaw with our federation, if we can compete or not, Lena Herrmann and I finally got the chance to start at this year’s last European Youth Boulder Cup in Laval (FRA). Consequently the German Lead Cup in Würzburg wasn’t my last competition this year after all. The message that we are allowed to participate was surprising. Lena and I were driving on the high-way in direction to Frankenjura to spend some days on the rock. Particularly she was overjoyed to hear that. The lead finals of the German Championships this year, including an overall ranking (lead, boulder and speed) for youth A, took place in Würzburg (Bavaria) on October, 5^th-6^th. David and I both started at the seniors’ competition on Saturday. On the following Sunday I competed again in Youth A. Not just the seniors’ competition was a spectacular fight. Ruben in his first qualification route – Archive Halenke

Last weekend there was the second Lead World Cup for me which took place in Puurs (BEL). Besides the stressful everyday life at school I had to manage another big competition and left home on Thursday before. As every year the competition was hosted at the Klimax climbing gym, a very steep competition wall outside which is by the way a good training facility. Last weekend the Sparkassen Dome in Neu-Ulm (Bavaria) was host of the penultimate stage of the German Lead Cup and German Youth Lead Cup 2013. A wide lead competition wall and a seperated speed wall aside offered enough space for aprox. 170 athletes overall at the juniors and seniors cup. The work of the very well organised team with plenty of volunteers and backers lead to a smooth event which made it even more enjoyable for climbers to compete and for spectators to watch. A lot of parents, coaches and laymen were coming to support the climbers and to cheer them up the wall. So to speak, full house and good athmosphere. Weiterlesen →

Indeed, this August there were not so much posts and actual news of our doings because we were travelling from A to B over aprox. two months in a row not being at home. Sadly, we were both ill for two weeks too. Now we are sure that it’s time to inform you about our latest activities and what we were doing the last time. To be short: We were competing at the Lead World Cup in Imst (AUT), this year’s competition highlight the Lead WYCH in Central Saanich (CAN) and the Boulder World Cup which took place in Munich (GER) on 24th and 25th of August. We decide to call this headline „mixed results“ because not everything went well for us this time. A lot of mistakes and disappointments happended but we have to say that after all the new experiences we move on with a clearer awareness of what to work on in the future. The European Youth Championships (EYCH) this year took place in Imst (AUT). Meanwhile Imst is very well known for a huge outdoor competition wall which offers routes consisting of around 60 moves or even more on an approximately 21 meters wall. The last German Boulder Cup this year was arranged at the OutDoor fair in Friedrichshafen at the Bodensee in Southern Germany. The event attracted the passing audience. Additionally a new rather vertical climbing wall made it much more interesting for the athletes to compete on new technical elements. Weiterlesen →
