In front of „Das Recht der Freiheit“ (8b)

Yesterday, after some days of sunshine, I went to the Elefantenbäuche again to see whether the conditions were good enough to try an open project bolted by Ralf Kowalski and Jan Kroupa on the right hand side of the wall. It is a variation with a runout to the right of „Opium für’s Volk“ (7c) through an overhang with slopy sideholds and incut crimps. I finally managed to do the first ascent after being able to dry significant holds which were too wet for climbing during the days before.

I call it „Das Recht der Freiheit“ (The right of freedom, topo) in honour to the book by Axel Honneth I started to read. In this book he deals with the problem in a way that freedom can be understood as being familiar within the world. I feel engaged somehow to reflect this topic after having finished school now.

It is the first FA in hard routes of us actually younger climbers in Northern Germany so far. It is just a start but I hope it can help to contribute to some dynamic in the development of the local climbing scene. We all suffer from the climbing ban in the Selter. By now we have got a new regional Government in Lower Saxony and we are all curious to see.

A muerte!

Greez David ;-)
