Last saturday I participated at the German Boulder Cup in Auerbach (a small town in the Frankenjura). As last year it was a well organised competition with excellent and challenging boulder problems setted by Maxi Klaus, Tobi Reichert and Robert Heinrich. Although the weather was a bit too hot for staying inside, the atmosphere was great and the athletes were motivated to climb up the 4 meters wall.

There were plenty of athletes coming from Northern Germany, thereby the training group from Hannover. We were cheering us up the wall and we had a great time together. Congrats to Lena Herrmann for leaving Auerbach with a 2nd place in the Juniors‘ category, Lars Hoffmann with an 3rd place in the Youth A category and Felix Leuoth with an amazing 9th place in the seniors category! Very strong guys

I had a great run this day. After the qualification round I was 3rd, after the semi final 1st and after the final 4th place in the seniors‘ category. At the same time it meant that I got 1st place at the Juniors‘ category. I was concentrated to read the boulders right and to take them down in a few tries. This is the key of competition climbing: Climbing relatively hard problems very fast! That needs 100 per Cent of attention and precision.

After all I was pretty happy. Especially the fact that I was so close to the podium and that I could show a good performance made me feeling strong and self-confident. All the positive feedbacks and the appreciation from all sides braces me for training hard for the next competitions. Thanks for this!

Now I’m in the Frankenjura climbing with Alex Megos again. It’s soooooo hot (around 35 degrees) that we aren’t able to climb during midday. Yesterday I could tick „Wolkenbruch“ (8b) at the Wolkensteiner Wand in the second go and two days before „Melanom“ (8a+) at the Rotenstein in the second go, too. I was really astonished to do so.  It was such sweaty Action, but I feel strong and motivated for the next German Lead Cup this saturday in Kempten (Allgäu). Venga amigos!
